MatchWornShirt Launches Historic Auction for Women’s Football Memorabilia

The women’s game continues to expand beyond the pitch, and now collectors have a new way to own a piece of that history.

MatchWornShirt Launches Historic Auction for Women’s Football Memorabilia

To celebrate International Women’s Month and International Women’s Day on March 8, the global memorabilia platform MatchWornShirt has launched what it calls the largest auction collection ever assembled for women’s football. The initiative brings together match-worn and signed jerseys from more than 70 clubs and national teams, offering fans a rare opportunity to secure one-of-one pieces directly tied to the modern era of the game.

At the center of the campaign are the 2026 season jerseys from all 16 clubs in the National Women’s Soccer League. These kits will appear on the MatchWornShirt platform as soon as they hit the pitch, allowing fans to bid on the very shirts worn during live matches.

The auction extends far beyond the NWSL. MatchWornShirt’s International Women’s Month collection includes shirts from more than 60 clubs and nine national federations across the global game. Fans will find pieces connected to the United States Women’s National Team, Canada Women’s National Team, Paris Saint-Germain Féminine, Chelsea Women, AS Roma Femminile, and OL Lyonnes among the listings.

The scale is unprecedented. At any given time, the platform is hosting more than 70 live auctions tied to women’s sports, with roughly 900 shirts available across leagues and international competitions.

MatchWornShirt’s auction format turns every match into an interactive event for supporters. Auctions begin at kickoff, allowing fans to follow the action on the field while bidding on the jerseys being worn in real time. Once the match ends, the shirts are sent to MatchWornShirt facilities where they are photographed and authenticated before bidding continues until the final hammer falls.

Each item is verified using the company’s Fabricks digital certification technology, providing collectors with proof of authenticity before the jersey is shipped to its new owner.

For a sport experiencing explosive growth, the auction signals another shift in how the women’s game is valued and preserved. Memorabilia markets have long centered on men’s competitions, but MatchWornShirt are expanding the collectibles ecosystem to include women’s sports at scale.

The appetite is already there. The company recently hosted a record-breaking auction for Olympic speed skater Jutta Leerdam’s 2026 Winter Games suit, which sold for $228,000. The previous record on the platform had been held by Cristiano Ronaldo, whose Portugal jersey sold for nearly $75,000.

That momentum reflects a broader shift in sports culture. As women’s football continues to command larger audiences, bigger sponsorships, and greater cultural influence, the demand for artifacts tied to its defining moments is growing just as quickly.

Naivasha Oakes, Head of Partnerships at MatchWornShirt, sees the campaign as a celebration of the sport’s trajectory.

“This year’s campaign is about celebrating the continued rise of women’s football,” Oakes said. “We’re proud to provide a global platform that showcases the world’s leading clubs and international teams, giving fans and collectors unparalleled access to match-worn shirts and helping elevate the women’s game at every level.”

MatchWornShirt’s International Women’s Month auction gives fans a new way to hold onto those moments.
